San Francisco may not be known for its nightlife, but that doesn’t stop it from being one of the best cities in the US to celebrate the arrival of the New Year. We’ve got the mild temps, the midnight fireworks over the Bay, and endless fun things to do for whatever your party style may be. So there’s really no excuse not to turn off the Ball Drop (or just watch it live—you’ll still be out the door at 9 pm), dust off your fancy clothes, and head out into the night. But hurry up and snag your tickets because the good stuff will sell out. What’s the good stuff? Well, among this year’s top options for the best New Year’s Eve parties in San Francisco are hotel bashes, open bars galore, a dance party with Diplo as the headliner, and, of course, an option for those who want to keep the party going well into the night on January 2, 2024. Sure, NYE might be for “rookies,” but it’s also a chance to celebrate with friends, and if you do it right, it can be a chance to let loose and have a night you’ll never forget. Except for your 1 am Uber bill; that part you’ll definitely want to forget.
New Year’s Eve Parties in San Francisco
Fort Mason, $155 and up
This party is said to be one of the best in the country, and this year promises to be no exception, with Diplo headlining, as well as performances by LP Giobbi, The Knocks, and a slew of others. There’s also an outdoor area with a silent disco, an open bar all night, and art installations. VIP gets you express entry, special viewing areas and bars, and VIP-only restrooms. Dress up or don’t. Casual is totally kosher for this one.
Mission, $40 and up
Spend the night on the dance floor at this party featuring Sabo and Goldcap in the main room and The Neon Block, Benjamin K, Kyra, and Torie in the loft. Go VIP for expedited entry, complimentary coat check, and one well cocktail or beer drink ticket.
Financial District, $150
Start the New Year in the stunning and historical Hibernia Building, where you’ll be surrounded by 40,611 square feet of marble floors, a gorgeous teller counter, and Tiffany-style stained glass skylights, with music in four different rooms for every taste, including Top 40, hip hop, salsa, ’80s, and more, plus—perhaps the most important thing—a premium open bar for 4.5 hours (and a promise of lots and lots of bartenders so you won’t have to wait forever for a drink). Semi-formal attire is requested.
Bayview, $74 and up
Why celebrate NYE for just one night when you can spread it out “through time and space” at the Midway’s three-day, space-themed Fresh Start Block Party? Over 100 DJs will be performing, including Tchami & Malaa, Odesza, Louis The Child, Kaskade, and Chris Lorenzo. There are GA and VIP weekend passes, or you can grab tickets for just one day.
Tenderloin, $20 and up
If you’re not about a crowded club, this indoor/outdoor party at the Phoenix, SF’s quirkiest (in the best way) boutique hotel, is a great choice. The party kicks off with a reception hosted by legendary drag queen Juanita More! inside Chambers Eat + Drink, followed by DJ performances outside on the heated patio until 1 am, when the party moves back inside for one final DJ set.
Mission, $40 and up
You don’t need a lot of “Money, Money, Money” to be a “Super Trouper” at this Studio 54-inspired dance party with endless disco hits from ABBA to the BeeGees to Queen. Expect lots of glitter, including decorations, a gold photo wall, and the chance to cover yourself in glitter makeup and body paint. Needless to say, ’70s disco attire is requested.
Civic Center, $125 (18 and over) and $225 (21 and over, plus other perks)
LCD is bringing a non-stop dance party to SF on NYE with a set that’s guaranteed to be full of fan favorites and opening acts 2manydjs and Peaches. The $225 ticket gets you express entry, a premium viewing area, access to a lounge with appetizers and desserts, and one drink ticket. Can’t make it on NYE? There’s another show on December 30th.
SoMa, $95
This party, hosted by the Vau de Vire Society and Opel Productions, promises “a NYE like no other.” The historic Mint is transformed for the night with 23 immersive environments to explore, seven dance floors, game rooms, a variety and sideshow stage, themed karaoke, circus performances, dancers, and art galleries throughout. This party goes until 3:15 am, and you can get discounted tickets if you plan to arrive after 12:45 am. Cash bar with an option to add on bottle service.
Lower Nob Hill, $65 and up
If you’re looking to dance the night away, put on your “best sparkly evening attire” and head to this party at The Regency Ballroom, where there will be all kinds of music (three levels, four dance floors, and eight DJs, playing Top 40, Latin, hip hop, throwbacks, club classics, and more), and, if you go VIP, a silent disco and four-hour hosted bar. Table service and other packages are also an option.
SoMa, $165 and up
The W San Francisco is transforming into a mega party destination for New YYear’sEve. There will be 10 DJs spinning in four different rooms and a 4.5-hour premium open bar, plus a red carpet, dancers and drummers, and a balloon drop in every room. Go VIP for access to the VIP-only areas with private bartenders and more.
SoMa, $40 and up
The wine bar and lounge (don’t worry, there’s also beer) is transforming into a dance party for New Year’s Eve with DJ Jerry Ross playing hip-hop, top 40, EDM, 2000s, throwbacks, and anthem beats. Tickets include one drink ticket and a champagne toast at midnight. There are also a limited number of VIP tables available to reserve.
SoMa, $20 (GA) and $120 (VIP)
Travel back in time while traveling to the New Year at the Cat Club, where you’ll find ’80s and New Wave in the front room and ’70s disco and fun in the back room from 9 pm to 3 pm. All tickets include party favors and complimentary champagne. Go VIP to skip the line and enjoy an open bar from 9 pm to midnight.
Union Square, $100 and up
Check in to the Clift Hotel for the evening—or just hit up the party at the iconic Redwood Room, where there will be three DJs in multiple rooms, two full bars, a massive balloon drop, and an option for bottle service. Dress code: Dress to impress—suits and dresses recommended.
SoMa, $50 (GA) and $150 (VIP)
Make your NYE a total drag—in the best way ever—at this Greek and Roman Gods and Goddesses-themed parry hosted by Oasis and Princess. There will be drag, dancing, live shows, and more in every space of the club, including a midnight countdown with complimentary champagne followed by a megamix drag spectacular. VIP includes private early entrance between 8 pm and 9:30 pm, exclusive live entertainment, hors d’oeuvres, and an open bar until 9:30 pm.
Mid-Market, $250
You’ll see red in a good way at this party on the indoor/outdoor rooftop of the Proper Hotel. There will be music from DJ Nichole Leon, an open bar all night, passed appetizers, and you’ll probably get a good view of the fireworks as well.

Celebrate the Roaring ’20s of the last century while cruising around the Bay on a boat with three decks. You’ll have one of the best spots to watch the fireworks, an open bar, two DJs playing Top 40, hip hop, house, and more, a dessert bar, table service packages, and endless views.

You have permission to board the USS Hornet on New Year’s Eve, where you’ll find numerous dance floors on the enclosed and heated hangar deck, including live music from 3 O’Clock Jump, a 16-piece classic big band. Food and beverages are not included in the ticket price, but there will be a Hofbrau-style sandwich bar (around $20 per plate). Semi-formal, swing, military, or other period attire is requested.
Embarcadero, $185
Step into Terrene, the swanky indoor-outdoor restaurant at 1 Hotel, for a Studio “24” party with a live band (Analog Dog), light bites, a welcome cocktail and midnight champagne toast, and views of the fireworks from the expansive patio. Other than your two drinks, there’s a cash bar.
SoMa, GA: $50 and up (GA) and $100 (VIP)
Monarch is throwing a New Year’s Eve party in its cozy space with a headliner performance from DJ Minx, plus Werd, Tide Swing, and Green Gorilla Lounge, acrobatic entertainment from The Golden Gate Dolls, and more. VIP gets you an open bar until midnight.
Mission, $35 and up
There are those who go home after midnight and those who show up for what is arguably the city’s biggest block party: It’s A New Day + Breakfast Of Champions Block Party at The Great Northern. To be fair, you can go home and take a nap because even though the party starts at 4 am on New Year’s Day, it goes until 9 pm, with an after-party inside until 3 am on January 2nd. Yeah, that’s commitment. But it’s worth it to see over 100 DJs on 10 stages and keep the NYE vibes going another day. The cabanas are the place to set up camp, but there are only a few left, so act fast if you have the funds and want to snag one.
