People quite reasonably expect their heavy metal to be augmented by high drama, although usually, Johnny's totally straight, and he just looks that way. Now giving you an actual drama performance bursting with hair and wailing guitars, the world premiere of Broadsword.
Broadsword's a rollicking, often bizarre, very loud supernatural headbanger-inspired play about an 80s/90s metal band's attempts to reunite after their most creative member mysteriously disappears, written by NYU/Julliard-trained Marco Ramirez, who's also a writer for Sons of Anarchy...WHEN HE EFFING FEELS LIKE IT!! While most of the best details are being kept under wraps, you can expect madness such as:
-A bandmate instantly vanishing after fool-hardily attempting to play "the perfect song", which unfortunately didn't happen to Shaggy.
-A drummer played by Justin Welborn, who in The Final Destination, was dragged down the street by his own truck while on fire, until the trail of fire reached the gas tank and caused it to explode, blowing his head off. So yeah, it's good to have him back.
-A mysterious character called "The Man In White" shows up trying to seduce people into doing different things. It would be easy to suspect this is Kenny G, but he's actually the man FOR whites.
-A beer bottle spontaneously explodes during a segment with "flickering lights and weird music" -- seriously, Kenny G, get the hell out of here!
There'll be preview performances starting Thursday, and Sunday's the grand opening show with a cast meet & greet and after-party with bevvies available at the bar, enough of which are capable of making Kevin Dillon look like a...really blurry version of an ugly version of Matt.
