You come to expect certain things from Italian restaurants: pizzas, pastas, and the frustrating oxymoron of "endless breadsticks for a limited time only". Giving you the expected, plus great steaks: Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse.
Opening tomorrow where Niketown used to do it, Davio's is a Philly-originated franchise of high-end steaks/dishes prepped fusion-ified Northern Italian-style, featuring an oval-shaped wooden bar, a temp-controlled wine room, private dining areas galore, and a main chowing zone with white cloth-laid tables & thick round columns, also how people describe Limbaugh's WSJ editorials. Available as apps're pasta dishes like Maine lobster ravioli w/ corn puree; kinda-crazy spring rolls (shrimp cotija, chicken parm); a meat/cheese antipasti sampling w/ La Quercia Americano salumi, prosciutto, Tuscan liver paté, Smith's gouda & fruit mustard; and the pan-seared Jonah crab cake (where the whale is you). Next up're sandos like the lobster BLT w/ lemon chive mayo on a buttered roll, pizzas topped w/ Kobe beef or crispy calamari, and "Classici" dinners like homemade sausage w/ Cannellini beans; the main event, though, is steaks, like a natural-aged NY sirloin or ribeye, prime flank & filet mignon, each of which gets sides like oyster mushroom risotto and "David Bieber's crispy onion rings", which just like Justin's, will totally make your heart throb.
For dranks, it's 180 Italian wines and 10+ brews; and just for reading a certain handsome email newsletter, they're letting you into their invite-only grand opening party tonight, where you'll enjoy free passed apps & cocktails like the Dirty Blue w/ blue cheese stuffed olives & crumbles -- also your natural reaction when you realize you've missed the seemingly unmissable.
