This weekend's 13th annual South Pittsburg Cornbread Fest is the breadiest yet, with a classic car cruise-in and a maddeningly catchy theme song on top of a home-cooked recipe contest (last year's winner: Ancho Shrimp on Smoked Gouda), the "Cornbread Alley" tour ($2 for nine varieties like Mandarin Orange Cornbread and Apple Poppers), an ice cream eating contest, and a four-hour party with fireworks, live rock, bluegrass, and country, and the crowning of 2009's "National Cornbread Queen" -- who organizers insist isn't simply the one with the fluffiest cakes.
