Being invited someplace makes you feel wanted, gives you something to do, and most importantly, offers the opportunity to make hilarious carpool jokes on Evite. Inviting you in to get swanky, Parlour
Open Friday and Saturday only, Parlour's a you-must-be-on-the-list burrow quietly located under Door 44, conceived by owner Pablo Henderson (The Mark/Karma) as a place where cool people he knows (and you!) can hang out privately; it's decked with a tin ceiling, a wall of red demon masks, a sectioned-off room w/ plastered cut-outs of vintage pin-up girls, and a bar area with graffiti by local legend Dax of red & black thorns & roses -- start singing a sad, sad song, and the bartender will tell you you've had enough Poison. Get down to biz with signature cocktails like the vodka/lemonade/sweet basil "Rockwell", the ginger beer/Grand Ma/black rum/lime "Black Ink", the silver tequila/sake/pineapple juice "Parlour", and the Cognac/green tea/muddled ginger 'n' mint "Magnum", which the menu touts as a good choice for "when you need a little extra", which is really your only option, considering you can't fit into the other drinks. You can also plant it on the Pin-Up Room's gator-skin benches to get bottle service on premium spirits like Patron Platinum or Johnnie Black, or get the required management approval to buy a bottle of Lucid absinthe, the consumption of which will almost certainly result in management disapproval
Holding down house DJ duties are Steven Quinn and Daniel Gresham with indie/alt rock, Brit pop, and rare grooves; for Memorial Day they'll have an out-front BBQ called "Rednecks & Rockstars", and tonight, DJ Chris Nicholson'll be on Afro beat helping Pablo revive his legendary downtown "Skin" party, to which you should totally look into carpooling with someone. JK! Carpooling's stupid.
