There are tons of reasons you might miss an opportunity to rock out at a concert, be it an early next morning, a lack of funds, or residual anger over discovering "c*** out" was not an invitation to give your pet rooster "Buddy" the best night of his short, doomed life. Bringing live music from the clubs to your couch, Austin Music Weekly.
Headed by an audio engineer who lamented the breakup of his favorite bands enough to actually do something about it, AMW hauls 2-3 Canon DSLRs to local musicians' gigs via a bicycle trailer (that's dedication!), then archives the film on the internet, with 1/2 of any eventual profits going to the acts themselves. A simple signup process gives you free access to multi-angle video and audio direct from the mixing board/room mics, with already-uploaded epic shows including Eagle Claw's FFFFest performance (the fest's only officially sanctioned indie video footage), T-Bird and the Breaks killing it outside at Stubb's on Halloween, and an Independent appearance by Auto Body, also what you get when you're overly Cavalier about what you eat. Other awesomeness includes babe-alicious doo-woppers The Carrots at the Mohawk, rare hip-hopping by New Movement's Terp2It, and an ACL after-party featuring electronic pastichers Freshmillions, whose money's so young, it doesn't even have E. Pluripubic hair yet.
In addition to bringing you the rock more times a week than you shower, AMW's working on implementing an app for personalized playlists, and an upcoming-show calendar -- giving you time to find a sitter who totally loves the...Buddy.
