Karen is a food and drink writer who believes the darker the bar, the better. She has written for various print and digital publications for the past five years. In addition to drinking in dimly lit bars, she has spent quite a bit of time in distilleries while authoring “High-Proof PDX,” a guidebook to Portland distilleries (fall 2017). Before living in Portland Karen resided in Minneapolis where she tended bar, served a lot of Thai food, and drank way more whiskey on the rocks.
