Food & Drink

Finally, a beer fest for liquor

While the slopes of Breck will remain dry for a few more weeks, don't expect anyone there to follow suit, as the Breckenridge Craft Spirits Festival rolls into town this weekend

Head there tonight and grab dinner for just $18.59 (the year liquor was invented, or something) at a host of local restos (Hearthstone, Twist, etc) in order to pad your stomach before hitting the "Poker Run": 20+ Breck stops (from eateries like Empire Burger, to distilleries like Peach Street) each serving playing cards with their drinks -- the best hand wins big-time prizes at tomorrow night's Grand Tasting. Said tasting is the toppest shelf bottle of the weekend bar, with three hours of all-you-can-drink cocktails from the heroes behind the likes of Stranahan's and Rob's Mtn Gin, plus newcomers like Blue Nectar Tequila, and Loveland absinthe makers Overland Distillery. And snacks? Oh you better believe there are free snacks, in addition to commemorative glasses, and bluegrass from The Honey Gitters, who everyone will think is Mumford & Sons after draining their commemorative glasses

So you have a chance at surviving to return home, the restos participating in the Sunday morning hangover brunch have more than doubled from last year, and now include local faves like Columbine Cafe, Gold Pan, and a special breakfast buffet at Jake's Dive Bar, where it's never too early in the ski season to horribly fall on your face.
