Friday the 13th used to be the ominous herald of poor fortune, especially for anyone naively thinking "maybe this sequel won't completely suck". Not anymore, though, thanks to Camden Town's new Brewery Bar, launching today.
Swinging its doors every Friday from here on out (with a five-day week in the near future), the two-year-old brewery's new hop-house is a Spartan, stripped-wood affair, with kegs for tables, and walls bearing such proud decorations as a pair of giant foam fingers and a "beer map", where nights always head south.
Tonight's opening shindig, "Black Friday", will see burgers from a Byron food truck, Big Apple Hot Dogs, and new bevs including their updated pale ale (which they're pitting against their current brew, and asking you to decide which they'll go forward with), plus their Black Friday lager: a pils made w/ roasted barley that makes it go... well, let's just say it never goes back.
The Big Apple truck will actually be a Fri staple, and you can expect other Camden stars from their dozen taps, like their wheat, lager, hells, and new-brew Ink, described as a "dry stout", a slightly misleading label you'll soon remedy.
This being a brewery, there are of course tours, taking you from the monstrous 25-ton capacity grain chute, to their impressive bottling machine, as well as letting you sup unfiltered barley-pop straight from the vat, an activity you'll actually want to completely suck.
