Proving they're not just good for making people think you fell into them with clever walkie-talkie tricks, there's The Well Lounge: a new venture, finally opening Saturday, tag-teamed by The Forge's Shareef Malnik and nightlife heavyweight Buzzy Sklar, who set out to create the beach's new affordable, laid-back spot, vowing "this is not a nightclub in any sense of the word", so rest easy, Peach Pit After Dark. The goods:
The Look: The eye-popping 4000sqft space's divvied into three rooms, including the ski-lodge-like, rafter-beam-lined Aspen Room equipped with antler chandeliers, plush suede seating, and a humongous stone fireplace; the dark mahogany/flatscreen-outfitted 444 Bar; and the stained glass-ceiling’d Tiffany Room, where the beating of your hearts will be the only sound...except for like, people talking, and glasses clinking, and all the music they're playing overhead.
The Dranks: In addition to a healthily full bar, slopes-themed Aspen Room cocktails include the Blue Moon/Belgian White Ale/Bacardi O/triple sec/orange Beer Goggles, a wasabi-dusted Bloody, and the Maker's/Aperol/sweet vermouth/Angostura bitters/cherries Catching an Edge, which generally starts with baiting a trap with a skullcap and guitar.
The Eats: "Base Lodge Bites" range from paninis like the Gibraltar pressed with Serrano ham, Manchego, shaved chorizo, and marinated artichokes, to a slew of meat 'n cheese boards like The Devil (peppadew havarti, horseradish & chive havarti, chorizo, Sriracha, and pumpernickel bread), and the prosciutto de parma/roasted red peppers/sun-dried tomato bread Godfather, so whatever you do, definitely don't order three of those.
