New cocktails available around town

Just because the temperature is creeping past 100 doesn't mean your sweat-soaked body should stop you from successfully creeping yourself, so here's a rundown of top local joints dropping new drinks to help you beat the heat.

The Corner Set up shop on the rooftop deck, or hit one of the two (air conditioned!) bars inside and peruse their completely retooled drink menu, which now boasts frosty cooling action from a proper absinthe & Lillet Corpse Reviver #2, to a Campari & grapefruit Summer Fling, which, for once isn't from Canada, and actually exists.

a.kitchen Opened last month sans license before getting one this week, debut drinks include originals like the Cognac & maraschino Creole Content, plus classic Algonquins, Gimlets, and a Negroni Sbagliato, whose inclusion of Cava earned it the name "wrong Negroni", so at least it has a right to be bitter.

Davio's The steakhouse's new 'tails go equally well with meat and heat, from fresh Caipirinhas, to the definitely-for-your-date vanilla vodka/Irish cream/creme de menthe Thin Mint, to the raspberry vodka & tea Ice Pick, which is a rare occurrence given he's usually too concerned with messing around and getting a triple-double.

Sampan Having already tweaked their menu of Asian fusion, Samp turned its attention to the tipples and came up with offerings like the house Sampantini (gin hit with cucumber and aloe vera), and the effervescent, whiskey-tinged Honey-Yuzu Chiller, also a movie in which Jessica Alba gets really cold and eats a lot of yuzu, because nobody gives a sh*t what's happening so long as they're looking at Jessica Alba.

The Franklin Mortgage & Investment Co The Rittenhouse stronghold's just re-upped their game with socializing punch bowls like the 5 Point Palm Exploding Heart, full of sherry, rum, Cognac, and chamomile tea, and the bourbon/allspice dram/demerara rum/elemakule bitters Regime Change, funny, as after housing one the easiest thing to overthrow will be you.
