A NoLibs icon, resurrected (plus catfish-stuffed BLTs!)

Dropping more jazz than MJ in his last Finals appearance, Ortlieb's Lounge is the Noche/Drinker's team's resurrection of the gone-for-two-years Ortlieb's Jazzhaus, which swaps out some of the white-clothed tables for vintage-looking tufted banquettes, but keeps all the familiar touches like the beat-up bar, the dark paneling, and an appreciation of jazz that's so deep they should all be wearing short-shorts. And because you don't want to wait for the info packet about this place in the mail, man, here's a sneak peek:

The Tunes: Live music will be a mainstay, as evidenced by Jam Session Tuesdays (hosted by the joint's old owner and featuring folks like local legend/Dizzy Gillespie's old drummer Mickey Roker); Open Mic Wednesdays; and Sittin' Back Thursdays, featuring FDR! the house band.

The Drinks: There's plenty of crafty drafts coming from a rotation of nationals and locals (figure Yards and Victory to play a role), while the cocktail list is solid with jawns like the Ortlieb's Cooler (white rum, syrup, and... Negra Modelo?!?), the frothy, triple-Stoli'd Poor Henry Punch, and the sugar-rimmed, citrus vodka & lemon juice No Libs Lemonade -- so stay away, The Kennedys.

The Food: The menu covers all points South, with snacks like wings done 11 ways (spicy peanut, cajun rub...), shrimp roasted in garlic, tequila & cilantro, and super-stuffed burritos and tacos, plus sandwiches that count an Applewood smoked bacon/catfish-filled BLT and a pulled pork/melted Swiss/smoked ham Cuban, which'll remind you that MJ wasn't the only one to own a team.
