While the idea of booze-fueled DC power lunches seems great, in reality, a bill from one at The Palm will leave you holding your head in yours. Maximize your daytime consumption without maxing out your monthly expense account, at Thrillist's Three Mojito Lunch.
Cuba Libre, The District's most big-timing Little Havana joint, is hooking readers up with a boozy prix fixe lunch special (available weekdays through April), where $25 nabs over $50 worth of Cuban-inspired eats and drinks, which'll then be keenly disguised on your to-be-expensed receipt as an innocent "Prix-fixe lunch special", not that anyone in accounting would believe it's possible to have three drinks in one sitting anyway. Serious savings start with your choice of apps, which range from a house-cured smoked duck with roasted corn salsa, to marinated white anchovy fillets (with grape tomatoes, cucumbers, and black olive salpicón), to a plate of plantain/malanga/yuca chips served with black bean hummus, smoked marlin salad, and a Haitian eggplant spread in a "trio of dips" not witnessed since Freak Nasty put their hands up on your hip. For entrees, they've got five options with highlights including a protein-stocked plate of chorizo, shrimp, skirt steak, and chicken with watercress/ romaine/ garlic mojo/ jalapeño chimichurri, and a crispy flatbread topped with adobo-marinated grilled pork tenderloin (plus zucchini, portobello, eggplant, and melted tetilla cheese) and dubbed the "Coca de Lomo", unlike "Coca de Lima", which's served only in K Street stalls.
And, as the name implies, the deal includes your choice of three drinks (like their classic Mojito, Sandito Mojito, Mango Mojito, and red or white Sangria), meaning the breath test on your way back to the office will be the only check you have to worry about.
