Popular success can allow you to take on more elevated projects -- for example, Halle Berry had to flash her boobs for Hugh Jackman in Swordfish before flashing them for an Oscar in Monster's Ball. For restaurateurs stepping it up, check out LA Food Show
LA Food Show's a two-story, exhibition-kitchen-equipped rosewood behemoth, started by the guys behind California Pizza Kitchen as a way to showcase LA's "spirit of innovation and cross-cultural experimentation" -- a far cry from "throw crap on flatbread and call it Thai". The wildly eclectic menu sports dishes like miso black cod w/ginger jasmine rice, blue crab cakes w/remoulade & apple-cider slaw, and short ribs slow-roasted for seven hours -- like a good night's sleep from which you awaken delicious. There're also fresh takes on LA staples: a Chin Chin-esque "Three Crunch" Chinese chicken salad w/almonds, wontons, and crispy rice noodles; a Father's-Office-ish "Show Burger" w/sweet onions and optional applewood smoked bacon; and buttermilk-battered fried chicken and waffles -- for when you want Roscoe's, but can't deal with the discomfort of telling Snoop "No, man, I still haven't watched Soul Plane; I've been really busy"
Though still far from a chain, LA Food Show does have another location in Manhattan Beach, but if a boob flashes in a forest, who's to say it flashed at all?
