Teaching yourself a new skill can be a rewarding and satisfying endeavor, but really, who needs to learn how to tie their shoes when Tevas are appropriate for every occasion? Teaching himself how to make your pad look sweet, Mike Briggs.
Self-taught like most people from Worchester, MB's a professional artist/illustrator who's channeled his inner home-team fandom into a collection of skillfully etched sports cartoons/comic illustrations including several humorous portraits of favored Hub stars, minus the dude on the cart bike who screams, since he's crazy...litigious. Sox 'strations include an enlightened six-armed Terry Francona sitting cross-legged/Buddha style, each hand gripping a baseball while denoting a different starter; a gold coin engraved with Theo's mug and emblazoned w/ the once-certain/now dubious phrase "In Theo We Trust"; and a 300-esque poster depicting a bat-wielding/caped Varitek in full battle helmet standing above a blood-spattered number ".300" -- though, in reality, he should probably stand wayyy below it. Other highlights include Super Celts, portraying Pierce donning Superman tights, KG in a Batman mask and Perk going all Hulk; RSN Prez Jerry Remy filling in for George Washington on the $1 bill above the phrase One Nation; and a black/white number capturing a bare-assed Andy Petite and Roger Clemens about to inject one another with 'roids above the words: "Get Ready For a Little Prick", also how the MC hypes up the crowd before Gilbert Gottfried takes the stage.
If you're more into pop/music culture, MB's also rockin' classic caricatures of iconic music legends like Dylan, Hendrix, and Cobain along with celebs like Eastwood, Jon Hamm, and one particularly well-proportioned Kim Kardashian, who recently taught herself a new skill -- just kidding, she's already got mad ass.
