Pixily

The cluttered irony of record-keeping: you're way too lazy to properly file your crap, and way too stricken by guilty fear to ditch that receipt from your 1999 Gateway desktop (with CD-Rom!). Get organized the lazy way, with Pixily.

Based in Waltham, Pixily is a "digital organization assistant" that speedily systematizes any and all paper or digital files -- be they tax documents, receipts, emails, magazine articles, or particularly explicit dream journal entries -- and uploads them to a secure web account. It works like this: you sign up, and either immediately upload/email digital files, or stuff all your paper docs into Netflix-esque fireproof, prepaid "scanvelopes", then mail them to Pixily to be scanned & digitized, making them searchable and accessible from any location, and not just the crawl space behind your futon. Once set up, you can quickly and easily search by keyword as you would in a Gmail account, scroll though snippets from the top of each scanned-in page, or create your own organizational topics (tax stuff, medical documents, MapQuest printouts of Long John Silver's locations along the Eastern seaboard, etc).

In a couple of months, Pixily'll roll out a shredding service, giving you the option of either having them send your hard copies back to you or letting them securely destroy them -- so your only clutter will be the useless doorstop of your wildly old Gateway.
