Never pay full price on another parking ticket

Even when you do your damnedest to park by the rules, chances are high that you’ll still occasionally be picking orange notes off your windshield. Unless you’ve got the muscle of a judge, cop, or city clerk in your corner, you’re stuck with two options: being a sheep and paying the ticket, or taking time off to go play lawyer for a day (admittedly awesome, but who has time for that). Until Fixed.

When the city slaps your wrist, take a picture of the ticket via the Fixed app and type in the relevant info. Fixed gives you the probability of victory, tells you what photo evidence you need to make your case, and mails a contesting letter for you. If justice prevails, you only pay Fixed 25% of the fine. And if you get steamrolled and lose the case, there’s no downside — with no fee to contest, all you pay is the fine.

Unfortunately, the app is still in limited beta release in San Francisco, but hopefully Fixed expands — there are far too many cities with complex series of algebraic parking signs and faded white lines that just aren't there, or even townships that simply fail to replace fallen signs. Since up to 50% of all contested tickets collapse in court, there’s a good chance Fixed can prove that you weren't parked in that handicapped space (unless you were, a-hole).
