Taxis on demand, wherever you need them

Hailo: no longer just a quasi-religious spinoff of the sci-fi shooter game, thanks to three London cabbies who made it into a mobile app conceived to make catching them more convenient by working with a fleet of licensed taxi drivers to ensure a yellow ride is always at your fingertips (Note: then wash your fingertips... you don't know where its been). Once you've downloaded the app, it's a simple matter of confirming your location on a map and requesting a pickup, at which point it'll hook you up with the driver's name, cab number, and estimated arrival time, so if it's a lady driver you can tack on an extra 10 minutes (take that, whoever said "girls are late" jokes are tired!!!). Should you realize you're not where you thought you were, you can also call your soon-to-be driver and let him know, then ask him about his day and politics and stuff so you can get a jump on the uncomfortable small talk about to ensue.Since the app'll have your pre-stored credit card deets and tipping preferences, you can simply hop out at your destination, safe from worrying the cabbie won't think you're a straight shooter.
