Cosworth's Perfecting The Subaru BRZ

Whether you call it the Subaru BRZ, the Scion FR-S, the Toyota GT86, or simply, the "Toyobaru," the Toyota-Subaru sports car is a relatively inexpensive ride with fantastic handling. The only thing it's missing is some real power, but that's changing, because now you can get it in Cosworth form. There's probably no name more closely associated with high-end performance engineering than Cosworth, as they've made engines for everyone from Mercedes to Ford, including the single most dominant engine in Formula One history. Effective immediately, they're making a concerted effort to be the tuner of choice for manufacturers around the globe.

That means they're going way beyond just a bunch of decals and aerodynamic pieces. They'll have them of course, but they're no longer focusing on individual go-fast goodies, opting instead for fully engineered systems that will comply with manufacturer warranties. In other words, they're dangling high performance cake in front of your face, and you get to eat it.

The BRZ/FR-S is the first car to benefit from this new philosophy, and they've just dropped their first kit for it. Right now you're looking at exhaust and electronic upgrades to the tune of 230 hp, but in the very near future you'll be rolling behind a fully reliable 325 hp, in a car that'll take corners better than anything in its price range.

Welcome back to the mainstream, Cosworth. Can't wait to see what's next.
