The best Bond car? Undeniably the DB5. The second best, though, is just as undeniably the Lotus Esprit submarine that Roger Moore drove/captained in The Spy Who Loved Me. It's classy enough rolling up to a casino in an Esprit, but the combination of usefulness (it was adept at navigating while fully submerged) and absurdity (it was a frigging submarine made from a sports car!) makes it stand out from the sea of other Astons and BMWs that Bond has driven over the years.
They made six models of the car for use in the film, of which only three are thought to remain. The only one that actually drives was bought by Tesla founder Elon Musk at RM's London Auction last year, and one of the remaining two is now up on eBay.
The car is currently part of the Dezer Collection, which should definitely sound familiar to you. It's awesome, even though this particular one doesn't actually drive, on account of two of its wheels having been replaced with turning veins.
Not that that really matters, though, because it's still one of the most iconic pieces of automotive movie memorabilia on the planet.
Aaron Miller is the Rides editor for Supercompressor. He really wishes they'd build a fully functioning car-slash-sub.
