Hello, Gorgeous: Introducing Jaguar’s Project 7

A short while back, Jaguar Land Rover announced that the company was creating a new “Special Operations Division” whose sole function was to take the already not-too-shabby vehicles and inject them with attitude. What you're looking at is called Project 7. It's the first fruit born from the new skunkworks. It ain’t bad, and they're actually going to produce it.

Editor's note: a version of this story was posted earlier on Tuesday before it was announced that the car was actually going to happen. Now that it is, we got so excited that we made updates throughout, and rearranged some things to give you better information. Hope that's cool.

Jaguar aficionados will of course remember the similarly stunning Project 7 Concept from last year. Awesomely, the production version keeps the D-Type fairing on the driver's side, as an homage to the car's 60th anniversary.

Since it uses the potent F-Type R, it has a beefed up version of Jaguar's supercharged V8 under the “bonnet”. 567 hp propels the car up to 186 mph—it's officially the fastest street car Jaguar has ever produced—and plants a huge, permanent grin on the face of anyone lucky enough to sit in the driver’s seat.

It'll only be available in black, white, blue, and green—and yes, those white number circles come standard.

The suspension's been modified as well, with some tweaked geometry and much stiffer springs helping get the car around the track even more quickly.

They're only making 250 of them, but while you might not get your hands on one, you can at least feast your eyes on every angle of this car.
