Watch A NYC Cab Driver's Day Mapped Out Over 24 Hours

Ever wondered how much ground a single New York City cab covers during a day? Of course you have, and thanks to some intrepid data nerds, you now have the answer in the form of this mesmerizing visualization.

The animation randomly features the routes of 30 New York City yellow taxis over the course of a continuous 24 hour period in 2013, following their paths all around Manhattan, plus the occasional Jersey jaunt. The data also clocks how much money the cab collected—in fares, taxes, surcharges, tolls, and tips—along the way, and how many passengers it carried. Just watching it on the screen is giving us driver fatigue.
