Zagato Just Made Their Own Lamborghini

Over the years, Zagato has built some pretty legendary cars, perhaps none more eye opening than their Lamborghinis and Aston Martins. Now, the Milan-based design house has turned their attention back to Lamborghini with this Gallardo-based 5-95. It's about as far a cry as you can get from the sharp angles of the original Gallardo, and it's simply magnificent.

The 5-95 was commissioned by a major Lamborghini collector who also happens to have several Zagatos laying around. The aim of the car was to both celebrate the 95th anniversary of Zagato, and develop a car that's an "instant classic."

To do so, they shortened the tail section, and reduced all air openings as much as possible without affecting their functionality. The car takes inspiration here and there from different Lamborghini concept cars over the years, but you'd be forgiven for thinking the overall effect bears a passing resemblance to a Spyker.

Dig beneath the car's surface, however, and it's 100% Gallardo. Nothing was changed mechanically, so it still drives with all the enthusiasm — and all of the fantastic sound — of the best-selling Lambo of all time.
