First, there was Requiem for a Dream. Then The Wrestler. Now, Darren Aronofsky explores a world more desperate than the drug underground, and more competitive than the WWF: professional ballet, with Black Swan. Starring Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, and Winona Ryder (who's totally still got it), Black Swan tells the tale of rival ballerinas, one (Portman) embodying the innocence and grace of the White Swan, and the other (Kunis) the guile and sensuality of the Black Swan. Because guile and sensuality tend to be slightly more persuasive, Kunis causes Portman to explore her own dark side, indulging impulses far more licentious than "I really feel like destroying the Rebel Alliance".
If you've seen his other films, then you know Aronofsky could make a story about two warring actuaries gripping. So check out the preview above, and get seriously informed at BlackSwan2010.com.
