HubBuzz

Come summer, moving apartments is as common as unwittingly drinking beer all day -- but with approximately a million Chi 'hoods to choose from, one misstep could take you from "short walk to the El" to "short walk to hell". Find your sweet spot, with HubBuzz.

Just launched in 'Cago, HB's an apartment-rental portal that goes beyond the basics (price, washer/dryer, reptile-friendly) to flesh out each 'hood's specific personality traits -- so you'll know if you're a match now, or will be when those paternity tests come back positive. Top-level descriptions include Urban (The Loop), Trendy (Lincoln Park), Bustling (River North), and Open Space (Naperville, where city souls die and go to heaven ... at Applebee's!). Venture in deeper, and get area photos, a Google map of amenities (bars & restos, culture, etc), and hyper-detailed descrips, from where to live in Ravenswood ("courtyard and multi-unit buildings, as well as three-flats, bungalows, Victorian style homes") to where to look fabulous in Wicker Park ("seven -- count 'em, seven -- nail salons moved into the four-block strip on Division").

Though HB is free, find an apartment through them and a signed lease'll get you a $100 check -- which'll pay for a cab out of the DMZ you've been calling home since last July.
