A Definitive Ranking of Celebrity-Owned Alcohols
Celebrities love their booze. They drink it, they endorse it and now, they make it. Members of the glitterati are investing in spirits now more than ever after seeing the success of brands like Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs’s Cîroc and George Clooney’s Casamigos. Of course, not all of these celebrity-backed spirits are created equal. Some are excellent, others are mediocre and then there are those bottles that we’re downright scared to try. Here, a ranking of all the celebrity-owned alcohol brands from suspicious to outstanding. Take a look and see where your favorite lands.
Kenny Chesney’s Blue Chair Bay Rum
You might not think his tractor’s sexy now, but give it another look after taking a few slugs of Chesney’s sugary rum, which comes in flavors like key lime cream and coconut-spiced.
Florida Georgia Line’s Old Camp Peach Pecan Whiskey
The country duo might recommend getting your shine on in their songs, but we think at heart they’d prefer you kick back with their new-ish whiskey.
Channing Tatum’s Born and Bred Vodka
The Magic Mike star recently released this potato vodka. Drinking it in the strip club is totally optional.
Ludacris’s Conjure Cognac
Though this Cognac is pleasantly sweet and good for mixing, you’re going to feel the burn if you sip it solo. Maybe try it alongside some chicken-n-beer.
Blake Shelton’s Smithworks Vodka
This vodka is as friendly and jovial as Shelton, so it’s perfect for mixing up a brunchtime Bloody Mary or an indulgent spiked Milkshake.
Sammy Hagar’s Cabo Wabo
Hagar might not be able to drive 55, but he can make a decent tequila. This moderately-priced bottle is easy to find and easy to drink—especially in a Margarita.
AC/DC’s Thunderstruck Tequila
This isn’t AC/DC’s first foray into the alcohol world—they already have Hells Bells wine and Rock or Bust beer—so we totally trust that they know what they’re doing.
Toby Keith’s Wild Shot Mezcal
If you’re looking for a good, everyday mezcal that won’t break the bank, Toby Keith’s wild shot is for you. Best drunk out of a red Solo cup, of course.
Danny Devito’s Limoncello
It’s the drink of Italy, just try it and you’ll see, what the lemon was meant to be. We’re pretty sure DeVito’s Limoncello is defunct at this point, but we had to put it on this list for the song alone.
Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs’ DeLeón Tequila
Coming off of his major Cîroc success, Diddy introduced DeLeón tequila back in 2014. While it’s pricey for what it is, the tequila is smooth with a well-rounded palate. It’s worth a try if you have the extra coin.
Bill Murray and Mikhail Baryshnikov’s Slovenia Vodka
This vodka is more complex than most, so it’s worth a taste just to experience the difference. That said, we do have a hard time imagining Bill Murray drinking anything other than Suntory.
Willie Nelson’s Old Whiskey River Bourbon
Not only is this bourbon named after one of the best Willie Nelson songs of all time, it’s also really difficult to find—which makes it even more appealing, in our opinion.
David Beckham’s Haig Club Scotch
This approachable and easy sipping scotch has notes of toffee, vanilla and fresh banana—and just a touch of Beckham’s sweet, sweet sweat.
Adam Levine and Sammy Hagar’s Santo Mezquila
The idea for Santo Mezquila came to Levine and Hagar one night when they were drinking on the beach and decided to mix tequila and mezcal together. It just goes to show that sometimes the best ideas happen when you’re boozing—especially when you’re boozing with a celeb buddy who has enough money to bankroll said ideas.
Hafþór Björnsson’s Icelandic Mountain Vodka
This vodka is inspired by Hafþór’s character on the cult favorite HBO series Game of Thrones in name only. Made with pure Icelandic water, it delivers a clean taste and, unlike the actual Mountain, it will not explode your head.
Birdman’s Grand Touring Vodka
We didn’t know rapper and producer Bryan “Birdman” Williams even had a vodka until now, and we were pleasantly surprised with the liquid. It’s smooth and easy to sip alone with a creamy, almost sweet taste.
Drake’s Virginia Black Whiskey
Just like the 6 Man himself, sometimes we all need to drown our sorrows with a bottle in the club or alone on a rainy night. We suggest pairing Virginia Black with a side helping of VIEWS to do just that.
Justin Timberlake’s Sauza 901 Tequila
Fans of bright, earthy Sauza will love the pop singer’s special bottling. Life hack: Look at a photo of Justin Timberlake while you’re sipping and just dance, dance, dance, dance.
Dan Aykroyd’s Crystal Head Vodka
Not only is this vodka quite tasty, it has the coolest bottle on this list—and maybe of all time.
Marilyn Manson’s Mansinthe
Goth god Manson gets major points for the name of this spirit alone. But it’s actually pretty damn good, too.
Cheech Marin’s Tres Papalote Mezcal
Peppery, zesty and a little funky—kind of like Cheech Marin himself. The Supercall team was pleasantly surprised when we tried this mezcal. It may not be the first substance you think of when you think “Cheech,” but it sure did give us nice dreams.
Brett Ratner's Hilhaven Lodge Whiskey
With blockbuster hits like The Revenant and Rush Hour under his belt, filmmaker Bet Ratner can now add successful whiskey maker to his resume. The Hilhaven Lodge blended American whiskey is smooth and luscious with notes of candied fruit, clove and vanilla on the palate.
Jay Z’s D’USSE Cognac
Hov’s Cognac drinks more like a whiskey than a brandy, so make sure you like a little bit of spice before buying. The money spent is worth it for the bottle alone.
Joe Montana’s Aviation Gin
Gin traditionalists might not get along with Aviation, but for anyone who isn’t afraid of a dry, lightly spicy gin that’s less juniper-y than most, this is one of the best bottles out there. It’s a real touchdown of a spirit (sorry).
George Strait’s Codigo 1530 Tequila
Fully-matured agave is the secret to George Strait’s incredibly smooth tequila. Try a classic blanco, reposado or añejo, or spring for the Origen extra añejo if you wanna ball.
Sean “Puff Daddy” Combs’ Cîroc Vodka
Cîroc and Diddy are probably the most iconic celeb-spirit duo on this list. For that, we have to give Puff Daddy props.
George Clooney’s Casamigos
George Clooney does everything right. He launched Casamigos in 2013 with nightlife entrepreneur Rande Gerber and party boy real estate developer Mike Meldman, and the tequila has since won countless awards. Industry professionals and lay imbibers alike love the top shelf spirit, plus it’s a personal favorite here at Supercall. Placing this tequila at the top of our list is a no-brainer.
