The Most Luxurious Cruise Ship Bars in the World

Cruises have gotten a bad rap in recent years for things like dingy accommodations and horrific situations where everyone on board gets food poisoning—worst vacation ever! But there are some cruise lines designed to bring the ultimate in luxury to the high seas with features like world-class spas, restaurant menus by Michelin starred chefs, and Vegas-style entertainment that ensures guests never get bored. Of course, these cruise ships also feature lavish bars that are almost worth the fare alone (almost). Here are four of our favorite luxurious cruise ship bars that make us want to book a vacation ASAP.

This exquisite cruise ship features gilded room details, a richly appointed Monte Carlo-style casino and a luxury spa that rivals most resorts. In addition to eight onboard restaurants, the Seven Seas Explorer also offers culinary classes with themes like Nordic cuisine or three ways to perfectly cook a chicken. There are also five bars to enjoy, including the stunning Observation Lounge. Perched high on Deck 11, this is the place to go for a pre-dinner cocktail or nightcap while you enjoy live music and sweeping ocean vistas.

Even if you’re not staying in a suite aboard the Crystal Symphony, the staterooms will make you feel like royalty. Guests on board can enjoy eight restaurants, as well as shopping, The Crystal Spa & Salon, fitness classes, a casino and plenty of live entertainment. While we would definitely check out the ship’s nightclub and multiple piano bars, most of our time would be spent at the Palm Court. Designed with opulent details and floor-to-ceiling windows, this wondrous space is ideal for enjoying afternoon tea (or, more appropriately for us, afternoon Hot Toddies) or an evening cocktail.

Every guest that comes aboard the Seabourn Encore is greeted with a fresh fruit bar and iced Champagne in their suite. Then the fun begins with two gorgeous pools, six relaxing whirlpools, card rooms, and destination excursions, during which you can shop with the ship’s chef at local food markets. There are five onboard restaurants, including the steakhouse-inspired Grill by Thomas Keller. You’d find us sipping spritzy drinks daily at the nautical Observation Bar, which is designed with a skylight and features piano music daily.

These sister ships are almost identical, so guests can experience the same luxurious amenities no matter which cruise they choose. Hands-on cooking classes, a lavish spa by Canyon Ranch, and an artist loft where you can flex your creative muscles will keep you busy between pool lounging and gambling at the onboard casino. Seven restaurants, including a classic Parisian bistro by chef Jacques Pépin, boast excellent wine and whiskey lists in addition to great food. While all the bars on board are lovely, we’re partial to the Casino Bar, which is decked out in rich leathers, chandeliers and tasteful neon lighting that puts us in a party mood.
