Other zodiac signs may make great drinking partners in theory, but theory doesn't mean much if they never show up to the bar (*cough cough*, aries). A Taurus shows up every time, and showing up is half the battle. You can count on a dependable Taurus to make time for your date, to follow through on their promise to get the next round, and to see you home too. At the bar, you can count on a Taurus to prove themselves the best drinking partner in a number of ways. Here's why we love drinking with Tauruses.

They Always Show Up

Reliable old Taurus would never break plans once they’re set. The extremely trustworthy drinker will be at the bar at the agreed time—maybe even a bit early to find a cozy spot where the two of you can sit for the night undisturbed.

They Find the Cheapest Dives

Whether Tauruses are frugal or stingy depends on your point of view, but no matter how you see their tight walleted ways, you can be sure they’ll save you a buck too by taking you to a cheapo dive bar. The down to earth Taurus is planning to get a basic well drink or straight whiskey anyway, so a dive bar’s selection is just fine by them. Plus a dive will never be too sceney, so no one will ruffle your feathers, and the Taurus has probably been going there for years and will earn you respect by extension.

They’ll Defend You in a Bar Fight

As Paul Gleason says in The Breakfast Club, “Don’t mess with the bull. You’ll get the horns.” The bullish Taurus doesn’t go looking for a fight, but if the fight comes to Taurus, he or she won’t back down. You can count on them to have your back at the bar, whether you’re simply challenged to a drinking game or tensions threaten to get physical.

They Won’t Be Scared Away by a Crowded Bar

While Taurus prefers a chill dive to a popping club, they certainly won’t cower away from a packed bar. With an iron will and steely gaze set on the bartender, they’ll patiently weather any crowd in order to secure the next drink. A Taurus will never be the first one to get the server’s attention, but he or she will outlast everyone else in the bar in a game of patience and willpower.

They Can Hold Their Liquor

Don’t expect a Taurus to fall to pieces after a few rounds. Stoic drinkers to the core, and strong as an ox, Tauruses will pound tequila shots with you until your heart’s content, and then carry you home on their sure and steady feet.

They’ll Buy a Round

As frugal as they are, Tauruses are also extremely generous toward their friends. As long as you're at a bar within their means, Tauruses will gladly pick up the next round of neat pours or basic cocktails. Just don’t make them pay for you all night—they’d never show any resentment toward you, but inside they’d be hurting. Be as good to your Taurus buddy as he or she is to you.
