The Grand Del Mar goes clubbing

A truly complete luxury resort's got to have it all in-house: fine dining and exquisitely kept lawns are great, but without a place to practice your Sprinkler, they might as well be serving up The Funky Chicken. Filling the dance-floor void at one of SD's nicest: The Grand Del Mar's Club M.

A slightly more casual lounge in the super-swank oasis that already boasts the Addison and a world class links course, M's decked out with ornate tin ceilings, a working fireplace, four monstrous 84" flat screens, and a dark oak dance floor/stage hosting live acts (Thurs-Sat) from versatile cover-artists the Tony Suraci Band, to the Grammy-awarded Steve Tyrell (appropriate, as the place is Tony. Ha!). 'Tenders mix up nine specialty cocktails like the gin/elderflower liquor/black currant puree "Currant Times" and the cachaca/brown sugar/balsamic reduction "Brazilian Strawberry"; along with ten signature martinis like the vanilla vodka/amaretto/pineapple "Yellow Cake", and the gin/dry vermouth/cucumber jello "Gin and Jello", the biggest Cosby/Snoop mashup since Kids Say the Darndest G Thangs. The house 'tails are bolstered by ten brews (four taps and six bottles), a full complement of high-end liquors, and an impressive wine list (with 13 by the glass and nearly 50 by the bottle) ranging from locals like Edna Valley's (San Luis Obispo) "Wild Yeasts" chardonnay, to the exclusive bottling of a German Reisling for sis-resto Addison, called "Dr. Loosen" -- a drink whose name actually fits, as opposed to Dr. Pepper, which doesn't pepper you with anything...except for concerns that you could've bought a better soda.

To keep you upright, they're also offering a tapas menu ranging from Club M Bacon Fries with a truffle & roasted garlic aioli, to a madeira-cream sauced Wild Mushroom Ravioli, though if you want the Mash Potato, you're going to need your own Shopping Cart.
