Coffee, beer, brisket, and lumberjacks

Not just where Mr Aldrin gets all of his famous textiles made, The Buzz Mill's also a cabin-y, 24hr coffee shop on E Riverside, now outfitted with a full bar and BBQ from Aaron Franklin's old smoker. The walls are loaded with drawings and ephemera that take inspiration from 1900s western logging culture, including this cuckoo clock. If your hand's on the bar during happy hour and the bird clucks, you'll receive insane specials like 50-cent beer.In addition to traditional espresso drinks made by this fine gentleman, they've got a pour-over station and unprecedented on-tap cold brew (not the beer kind... but they've got that too!), all courtesy of Bootlegger Coffee Roasters, an Austin-based operation that delivers beans via bicycle. Not just what every Alabama football player from 1958-1983 secretly wanted, the Bear Hug's also a boilermaker that takes inspiration from Hamm's mascot in the early '50s. Also awesome: they've got a lineup of infused whiskeys and cider cocktails.Helmed by a pitmaster who began his 'Q studies under his grandfather at the ripe age of three and most recently worked under John Mueller, the Blue Ox BBQ trailer ensures that the bearded baristas aren't the only ones smoking behind the coffee shop.Photos by JW Walthall
