With juniper berries, cranberries, and thyme alongside gin, elderflower syrup and bright citrus, this cold-weather French press cocktail is both tart and herbal. Titled Winterberry Squeeze and created by Dani Davis of Crafted in St. Louis, the drink is also adjustable. If you pump the press down right away, you get a brighter, crisper final product, whereas if you let the ingredients steep a little while, the juniper and thyme accents come to the fore. You should definitely try it out as many times as needed till you get it just the way you like it.
- 2 oz gin
- 2 oz fresh lemon juice
- 2 oz elderflower syrup
- 7-8 cranberries
- 1 bar spoon juniper berries
- 4-5 sprigs thyme
- Add cranberries, juniper berries, and thyme to a single-serving French press.
- Shake the gin, lemon juice and elderflower syrup with ice and strain into the press.
- Let steep for a few minutes, to taste, then press down and pour into a Coupe glass.
