How to Make a Perfect Gin & Tonic

Minimalist cocktails don’t get much better than the Gin & Tonic, an all-time classic with roots stretching back to the 19th century. It’s crisp, refreshing, and, of course, oh-so-easy to make. In our version, we don’t stint on the fresh lime juice, kicking in nearly an ounce to add citrusy brightness to the bitter quinine in tonic and the botanicals in gin. It’s perfect for warm weather, and also great throughout the year.

Here’s the way to get it right:

Ingredients |

  • 2 oz gin
  • .75 oz fresh lime juice
  • Tonic water, to top
  • Lime wedge, for garnish

Method |

  • Fill a Collins glass with ice, then add lime juice and gin, and top with tonic water.
  • Garnish with a lime wedge.
