You live in London, and therefore you probably have a busy schedule, and you certainly don’t have time to personally hunt down the nine fantastic new bars in town that you absolutely need to unwind at. Well, today’s your lucky day, because we’ve done it all for you:
The 9 Hottest New Bar Openings in London
This classy number is from the same crew that brought you lauded Bethnal Green cocktail den Satan’s Whiskers. Expect classic cocktails, a hip hop soundtrack, and crazy taxidermy lining the walls. Follow the neon scrawl out front, get comfy in a red leather booth, order the cheese and charcuterie boards, and settle in for the long hall.
When long time bar manager Luca Cordiglieri left China Tang, we knew his new project would be special. And it is. With a particular focus on wine, all bottles are priced at a ridiculously reasonable £20, allowing people to expand their grape-y horizons with regions they would normally shy from. Not the type of place to completely turn its back on its cocktail past, there’s still a late night cocktail bar tucked away inside, too.
The Inception Group (Cahoots, Barts, Maggies, Mr Fogg's) have perfected the art of transporting you to another world. This younger sister to the Mayfair original is substantially larger, with the same quirky Victorian-era curiosities lining the walls, and excellent cocktails lining your belly.
Sure, “a pub with darts” doesn’t sound like anything to write home about, but trust us when we tell you this takes the concept to another level. The darts feature a live scoring mechanism invented by a rocket scientist (really) complete with in-game animations, there’s an inventive cocktail menu (fig & hazelnut liqueurs make an appearance), and you’ll also get delicious bar bites like fried chicken w/ crispy shallots.
After giving us drinks that look like Chinese takeaways and snow globes at their original site in Soho, the boy wonders are back with a second London outpost filled with similarly eye-widening cocktails. This basement followup, hidden downstairs from Ask For Janice (opposite Smithfields market), will even allow you to bring in your own “valuables and knicknacks”, which the bar staff will give an Antiques Roadshow-style appraisal, and possibly trade for a drink.
The latest addition to the Breakfast Club family of speakeasies, this chalet-meets-disco spot is hidden inside their Canary Wharf location (you’ll need to find the door marked “Dr. Kluger”) as part of the new Crossrail line. With a 70s chic/ glitter ball-laden/ members club vibe, you’ll find great cocktails (two-for-one from 4pm-7pm every day), Camden Hells on tap, and bar food like poutine & chips w/ curry sauce.
Tucked on a tiny side street, underneath the tiny tequila bar Casita, you’ll find Found. The stairs may be treacherous, but once you make it down, you’ll be happy you did. The place is a straight-up, no gimmicks, bar-lover's bar. There are strictly six bottles of each spirit varietal (plus a rotating “lucky number seven”), three red, three whites, and three beers.
Snuck underneath the Bourne and Hollingsworth buildings, B&H is a tiny, living room-sized bar with tapestry-covered walls lit up by artfully cool LEDs. The whole thing is geared towards late-night fun, with pre-bottled cocktails to cut down on wait times, tables that can be easily swept away to create a dance floor, and DJs ‘til 2am.
Newly opened in Arbutus, the name literally means “the dog’s bollocks,” and the space pretty much lives up to it -- the long polished marble bar serves wine by the glass (extracted from the bottle without even taking out the cork via some fancy new tech), high-end cocktails (check out their prune Negroni), and, naturally, an amazing bar menu.

Bringing true cocktail innovation to Bethnal Green, The Craft Cocktail Co. concocts sophisticated 'tails using premium ingredients and traditional methods.
The Breakfast Club on Battersea Rise has a launderette inside of it, and a hidden, '70s-themed bar inside of that called Dr. Kluger's Olde Towne Tavern.
Tucked on a tiny side street, underneath the tiny tequila bar Casita, you’ll find Found. Though it eschews divey aesthetics, this spot is a no-frills bar: there are strictly six bottles of each spirit varietal (plus a rotating “lucky number seven”), three red, three whites, and three beers.
Located below the Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings, Below & Hidden feels like the cool, edgier counterpart to the venue upstairs. The whole thing is geared towards late-night fun, with pre-bottled cocktails to cut down on wait times, tables that can be easily swept away to create a dance floor, and DJs spinning until 2am. Insane floor-to-ceiling light panels come out to play as the night wears on
