It's worth noting, however, that the hangover reduction was only observed if the pears were consumed prior to the consumption of alcohol, so downing a tall glass of pear juice at the end of the night won't cut it. Also, the study specifically looked at Korean pears, so it's unclear whether or not other, more pear-shaped pears would have the same effect. Lastly, this is just a preliminary scoping study, so the results aren't finalized.
All that being said, this does seem to replicate the results found in a 2013 study from Sookmyoung Women’s University in Seoul, so adding Korean pear juice to your pre-gaming ritual might just be the thing needed to leave hangovers where they belong: in the past.
