Starbucks VIP creates this $54 monstrosity with 60 shots
People who believe Ventis are for toddlers just got a new folk hero. A fearless Starbucks patron named Andrew spent his Memorial Day weekend ordering what has been dubbed the most expensive Sbux drink ever ordered, the Sexagintuple Vanilla Bean Mocha Frappuccino. It was made in a 128oz glass he brought from home, contains 60 shots, and would've cost him $54.75 -- that is, if it weren't free.
Before you go thinking he pulled off an elaborate, espresso-themed heist, let's get the facts straight. This behemoth was free because Andrew is part of the Starbucks Gold rewards program, meaning he's entitled to a free drink for every 12 he buys.
Andrew was hellbent on breaking the previous record of a $47.30 Sbux drink, and consulted with the staff on how to bust it. Shockingly, the trick turned out not to be the protein powder but the 60 shots of espresso. Because he didn't want to be tweaking all day on an estimated 4,500mg of caffeine, Andrew only drank about a third of the Sexagintuple Vanilla Bean Mocha Frappuccino on the spot, stashing the rest for later, but says it was delicious. So there you have it. If you've got a spare $54 and want a drink that would make Andre the Giant hyper, go announce that silly name to your barista ASAP.
