Yo McFly! 'Back to the Future's Pepsi Perfect Is Now a Real Thing

Where we're going, we won't need bottle openers... because Pepsi's new, Back To The Future-themed Pepsi Perfect will naturally come with a futuristic, twist-off cap.

Despite what the Internet would have you bi-annually believe, the actual date that Marty McFly traveled to the then-future in Back To The Future: Part Two is October 21st, 2015. This means two things: the Cubs are due to win the World Series, and you can expect a slew of promotional tie-in's to the classic sequel coming down the nostalgia pipeline in the next few weeks. Unfortunately, there's no word on a hoverboard -- but we do have Pepsi's real life take on the "Pepsi Perfect" soda that Marty McFly guzzled on celluloid, just before Biff's son tries to rough him up, to no avail (like father, like son).

The soda giants even whipped up an ad for their limited edition product, loaded with in-jokes and nods to the original film.

Only 6,500 bottles of Pepsi Perfect will be sold, at a price point of $20.15 (get it?), and will be available exclusively online. Pepsi recommends flocking to its social media sites closer to the 21st for further purchasing instructions.

It's worth noting that Pepsi Perfect won't be a totally new product on the inside, as the dark-brown contents will be nothing more than Pepsi with Real Sugar, which is itself a throwback to the way they used to make the soda. So, it's a throwback soda, inside a faux-futuristic bottle, based on what Pepsi bottles would look like in the year 2015, which is now actually the present.

This is more confusing than Back to the Future: Part Three...
