Starbucks lines could be a thing of your past

Because endless lines are prone to spark awkward conversations and almost-fights, Starbucks is working on a mobile ordering app system that would allow you to cut to the front without elbowing 15 men, women, and children (unless that kid really deserves it).

This new option is still very much in the early stages, but it would let customers place a pick-up order and have their coffee waiting when they arrive. A system like this would be a win-win for everyone: You wouldn't be late to work, and the baristas would have more time to process your no-whip, non-fat caramel macchiato frapresso. Starbucks hasn't disclosed the market they're planning to test yet, but they're aiming to start this year, so keep an eye on your Starbucks app for the rest of '14. In the meantime, keep your 'bows up.
