Black Manhattan

Black Manhattan cocktail in a coupe glass
Matthew Kelly/Supercall

Created by San Francisco bartender Todd Smith during his time at Bourbon & Branch, this take on the rye whiskey-based Manhattan replaces sweet vermouth with the Italian amaro Averna. It’s just the thing for when you’re in the mood for something dark with a touch of mystery.
