Your next date spot has 600 bottles of wine

The guys behind Experimental Cocktail Club -- the popular drinkery that started life in Paris before crossing over to NYC -- have officially branched out into Soho with La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels. It's both a mouthful, and a striking new wine bar with everything you could possibly want in a striking new wine bar: a sexy Euro vibe, a bunch of wine, small plates, and -- Tinder willing -- a date.

There's a couple places to get the wine flowing, including a live-edge communal table up front, and an almost reading-den-esque seating area, but the long, gorgeous bar overlooking a window to the kitchen is the spot. How cool is that window... right??

Keep it simple with the steak tartare, made with top-notch, grass-fed beef that's mixed up with a little tomato confit, shallots, chive, and some sweet mustard.

Not some kind of awesome quarter-pounder topped with shrimp (dude, one day), the Shellfish Royale is instead a light dish made with steamed mussels, little necks, and razor clams, tossed with olive oil & preserved lemon, then dropped onto a parsley custard.

Probably better than the toad in the holes you had as a kid (okay, definitely better), this is a slice of sourdough with a duck egg embedded in the center, surrounded by roasted mushroom, truffle butter, and jamón ibérico.

And of course, don't forget about the wine. They've got 600 bottles and 35 by the glass, with a selection that's heavy on the French, but that reaches into many other regions, including Italy, Portugal, South Africa, and Spain.
