A knowledgeable bartender with a well-stocked bar can make almost any drink you can conjure up. But just because you can order a drink doesn’t mean you should. Apparently though, that hasn’t stopped lots of people from getting weird during a night out. There are some tried and true bizarre asks, like the “mat”—a “drink” that involves a bartender pouring whatever has spilled on her bar mat on into a glass. And there are some famous ones, like the Sour Toe—a shot of whiskey with a preserved human toe in it. But that’s just the tip of the odd, alcoholic iceberg. We asked our readers about the strangest cocktails (if you can call them that) they ever saw someone order and the responses were...well, strange. But hey, taste buds can work in mysterious ways. Here are the most eyebrow raising orders.
Not for the lactose intolerant:
“I saw an old man order a Johnnie Walker Red double 'neat'. Then, he wanted some buttermilk for the chaser!” - Jack C.
"Milly latte—Miller Lite with whipped cream.” - Brandon W.
“Working a wedding and a guest ordered a scotch and milk.” - Tawn N.
“Tequila and milk.” - Nicole A.
“Gin and milk.” - Brendan M.
“Killian’s draft beer with a rocks glass filled with milk and anchovies on side.” - Libby C-M.
Some garnish and chaser mistakes:
“A guy ordered specifically ‘the most expensive glass of Merlot’ we have, about $19 a glass. Then asks to fill it with ice, THEN asked for OLIVES to mix in.” - David M.
“Oyster shooters with a peanut butter back.” - Todd J.
“A Strawberry Daiquiri with a pickleback and exactly 3 olives.” - Brandi F.
Not a thing:
“Half Killian’s half sweet vermouth with a splash of Sprite.” - Cindy P.
“Virgin Dirty Martini” - Austin V.
“A shot of tequila, a beer back and a spoon. The old timer took the spoon and dipped it into the tequila then snorted in one nostril then the other then drank the rest and chased it with a Budweiser.” - Mike G.
“A Grasshopper with literal toothpaste on the rim.” - Danny M.
“Pickled pig’s feet and a shot of Jack Daniel’s for dipping sauce.” - Joey M.
