Expanding an empire requires astute business savvy, the financial know-how to see it through, and the wherewithal to not create an invincible floating fortress that can be completely destroyed by Mark Hamill with one puny missile to the thermal exhaust port. For a lounge from a drink empire that doesn't need to strike back, hit Citrus.
Helmed by the crew already behind multiple Seatown night spots (Vela, Fusion), Citrus extends their reach to the shore of Lake Union via a swanktastic 5,000sqft lounge/eatery serving up international cuisine in a black and white palette'd space that features a waterside dining room fitted with low-slung booths; a fire-placed lounge with leather couches and a small glass-tiled bar; and a glowing LED-lit bar space, all in what used to be a TGI Friday's, prompting everyone to agree, TGI Not Anymore. The grub ranges from Citrus Grilled Chicken w/ lemon zest and grilled asparagus, to low roasted Pork Ossobuco w/ wilted spinach & tomato concasse, to a citrus cream topped peppers/garlic/basil/ginger/onion sauteed Mongolian Beef Strips, but only because it's trying to pay its way through Mongolian Community College. There's also cold bites like lemon/pineapple/candied prosciutto Scallop Ceviche, and Citron sauteed Shrimp Cocktail, plus desserts like Blood Orange Panacotta w/ caramel, and Tiramisu w/ espresso ladyfingers, which are absolutely huge in the Amazon.
In addition to the usual beer/wine/libations, the bar is serving up a bevy of summery fruit-flavored-slushies and will also be the first imbibery in Washington that, through its use of locking carafes, is licensed for bottle service -- but just make sure you don't have too much, or your GF will have to come to get you and no one likes a Return of the Jetta.
