Allston's Big City gets a big makeover

Eager to spice things up at his pool hall, the dude behind the small town of Allston's Big City (and Sunset Grill & Tap... and Sunset Cantina) has overhauled the second-floor joint into a 360-seat, tequila-friendly haven of margaritas and Mexican eats. Remember the old pool room where you first heard about from a Tufts senior named Amy? Well look at it now, all billiard-table-and-Amy-less and anchored by a new U-shaped, 20-seat bar.Plus this cozy lounge area, featuring two stone fireplaces that're just perfect for warming the cockles of your heart. Plus, like, your hands or whatever. If the fireplace doesn't warm you up, opt for a Mexican coffee, or their veritable fiesta of tequilas & 50 beers on tap.Obliterate that unhealthy weight you've been losing with this pile of hand-cut fries topped with sloppy joe taco meat, pico, habanero ketchup and Jack cheese. Or opt for one of six varieties of tacos including these fajita-spiced tilapia Cancun bad boys, which're "skillet bronzed", topped w/ mango salsa, and served with a side of plantains. This is a Blues Brothers Margarita. It has blue salt on the rim. And a blue straw. You know? Because of the name? And this is a red ale enchilada-sauced Mexican flatbread, with chorizo and roasted poblano pepper. Then finally, cap your night off with these churros doused in a milk stout dulce de leche caramel sauce, though be warned: buttoning your pants might be Tufts.
