Modern Vietnamese in Lakeview

A progressive Vietnamese restaurant with a French accent ("baguette!"), Vu Sua's settled into the former Erwin space, where the chef from Lincoln Park's Macku Sushi is meticulously serving a minimalist 90-seat dining area so zen-like it's amazing Phil Jackson isn't there giving people reading material.Far more attractive than the ones you have following a Winter of inactivity, these Spring rolls include the usual noodle/ veggie suspects along with protein choices like shrimp tempura, octopus, or, if you're feeling luxurious: this lobster & foie gras.Speaking of lobster, this sweet potato soup's made with lobster broth and coconut curry before being tantalizingly poured onto... more lobster.Oysters are aphrodisiacs, so it's not surprising to see them in a three way, which in this case involves pairing with pepper sauce, fish sauce, and vinegar dressing garnished with pickled kiwi and strawberry. This artfully tied-up crepe is hiding a shrimp and lump crab filling, but not the uni cream in which it's resting.Entree action includes this pan-fried snapper (red onions, jalapeños, garlic & fish sauce glaze). For dessert, this white asparagus pudding (yeah, that's right) comes with chocolate sticks and strawberry-coconut puree that may or may not be a Magic Eye puzzle.
