Helmed by the crazy-lauded guy from Lazy Ox and Baco Mercat, Bar Ama is a Tex-Mex-taurant Downtown that looks like the type of place you'd take your Mexican sweetheart who also works in industrial shipping, mostly because of the decor, but also because they've got Mexican-only tap beers and 50+ tequilas/mezcals, plus wood-grilled meats and something called a "Puffy Taco". Keep your eyes peeled for the menu's citrus-y tequila blanco Chingon, which you can order at an iron-worked bar from more than a dozen, bolted-to-the-floor stools. This should help. Order their coleslaw and tomatillo-topped wood-grilled young goat, which won't be taking quarters off the top of a backboard anytime soon. Then ensure you won't either with 1lb of fajitas served with thick flour tortillas.
