X Games athletes go to Chipotle just like the rest of us -- except after you eat a burrito, youwatch every episode of House of Cards in one sitting, while they nail some backside triple-cork 1620s. That's a real trick, we promise.
We stopped by the X Games in Aspen this past weekend to talk to Monster Energy ski and snowboard teammates (some of whom won Gold at Sochi last year) to see what they fuel up with.
2014 Olympic Ski Slopestyle Silver Medalist Her order: “Steak bowl. I add the rice in. I like hot sauce, so I get it pretty spicy. I get pico and hot salsa too. Sour cream and cheese, for sure. And then sometimes guacamole? I'm like, 'Hmm, 50 cents more? Do I really want it?' I usually add it on.”
2014 Olympic Freestyle Skiing Silver Medalist His order: “I get a burrito with cilantro rice, black beans, chicken, fajita peppers, pico de gallo, a little bit of cheese and sour cream, lettuce, and maybe some guacamole.”
2014 Olympic Snowboard Halfpipe Gold Medalist Her order: “I get a chicken bowl. I like white rice (I always get an extra scoop), and then I get medium salsa, guacamole, and lettuce -- everything but tomatoes and corn salsa.”
2014 Olympic Snowboard Slopestyle Gold Medalist His order: “I love Chipotle. Chicken burrito, hot sauce, everything on it -- besides sour cream. I'll do the pico, but I don't like tomatoes alone. I'm down with the pico. Yeah, I'm that guy. And chips and guac.”
2015 X Games Aspen Snowboard Slopestyle Silver Medalist Her order: "I like Chipotle. I get veggie tacos with black beans and white rice, hot salsa, lettuce, guac, and cilantro. Extra cilantro. It's good for the pineal gland, for cleansing heavy metals from your body. I put cilantro on homemade soup with avo and lime and serrano.”
2015 X Games Aspen Men's Snowboard SuperPipe Bronze Medalist His order: “Mexican food is my favorite, actually. I love salsa. The hotter the better -- I usually go with everything in [the burrito]. I love black beans and rice.”
2015 X Games Aspen Men's SuperPipe and Big Air Skier His order: “I do like the bowls. I don't really dig rice or beans that much. I get a salad with chicken, sour cream, guacamole, and salsa. Then I get some chips and crush them up and mix them in. I don't get the burritos there -- they're so big! I can't even finish them, so why should I start?”
