When we covered America's most insane eating challenges, we realized that -- like with the World Series (Ok, so at least Canada has a chance to participate in that) -- we kind of tend to assume that our country has the best of the best, at least in terms of gut-busting feats of feasting. But that very notion has been challenged by Bristol, England's "Monster Mega Challenge" breakfast at the Corner Cafe Portishead. Which has 8,000 calories and 59 food items.
The challenge (which, as of yet, nobody has completed) gives courageous patrons one hour to wolf down the entire meal, which consists of: six eggs, six slices of bacon, six sausages, two three-egg omelets, four portions each of fried potatoes & fried mushrooms, six black puddings (blood sausages) & hash browns, one bowl of French fries, four onion rings & slices of toast, two slices of fried bread, half a grilled tomato, two portions each of tomatoes & beans, and either a milkshake or an energy drink.
We recommend the energy drink, because that's the only way you're going to remain conscious. The whole thing is available for around $23, and, if you finish it, you get a free voucher for another "mega" breakfast. Because you'll absolutely want to go through something like this again.
