The days of pairing gourmet food with Two Buck Chuck are officially dead and gone: Blue Apron just announced it will begin delivering wine pairings alongside its ingredients and recipes, to the delight of boozy home cooks across America.
Blue Apron Wine, as the new service is called, will deliver six 500ml bottles of curated wine to customers monthly, and each wine will also include a tasting card with information on the vineyard, tasting notes, and tips on how to pair said wine with upcoming Blue Apron menus. It's like having a personal sommelier, except he won't laugh at you when you sniff the cork.
As you'd expect, you'll be paying some extra coin for this added service, to the tune of $65.99 per month -- which, when stacked on top of your regular Blue Apron subscription, means you'll be forking over a grand total of $305 if you opt for regular deliveries of both. Of course, you'll still have the option to skip upcoming months of wine (or a weeks of food), so you could theoretically just save it for special occasions.
Or, you could skip the whole thing in favor of a boxed wine/Costco rotisserie chicken pairing. It is a classic, after all.
