Sam Bompas and Harry Parr are two completely real scientists. They are not figments of some Willy Wonka fan fiction writer's pure imagination. We just thought we should say that up front, because these guys created flavored fireworks. Suck it, schnozberries.
Bompas and Parr are the geniuses behind "multi-sensory" fireworks, which let you taste and smell fruit as they explode across the sky. A bunch of lucky British people got to experience these suckers for themselves on NYE, when the dudes made the confectionery dream a reality and definitely upstaged the Seacrest.
Through daring acts of coordination, the guys blasted clouds of apple, cherry, and strawberry mists as the fireworks went off, also using peach-flavored snow and bubbles filled with orange-flavored smoke/edible banana confetti to complete the experience. This trickery gave the New Year's peeps the impression they were eating fruit fireworks, without actually having to put explosives in their mouths or associate with Oompa Loompas.
