Chef Moms Clue Us in on the Best Food-Related Gifts for Mother's Day
Get gift ideas from the moms who know best.
Moms know that the best way to show love is through food, whether it be cut up fruit speared with toothpicks, a bubbling casserole dish that’s as rich as it is comforting, or warm cookies fresh out of the oven. With Mother’s Day coming up, it’s our turn to show our moms how much we appreciate them in the same way they've taught us through food. Although we can’t all be home for the holiday, we can still show our moms how much they mean to us with homemade jams, biscuit mixes, and bottles of hot sauces. We turned to the experts -- chefs, coffee shop owners, and cookbook authors (who also all happen to be moms) -- to get ideas on the best things to gift them. Here are their suggestions:

“For home cooking, I love Goya Organic brand of all types. [The] chickpea and black beans especially can be made so delicious with a great homemade sofrito, often including Burlap and Barrel’s wild mountain cumin -- a recent obsession.”

"This Mother's Day, I'd love to receive the Canlis Mother's Day Brunch-In-A-Box kit. I've been looking forward to reconnecting with my extended family more than ever and this gift has the potential to make seeing them easy and over something delicious. Plus, it's great to support fellow local Seattle businesses during this difficult time!
As for a gift I'm likely giving to other moms in my life, the Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat cookbook by Samin Nosrat is one of my all-time favorites and a must for anyone interested in exploring flavor. I've always been one to experiment with unique combinations in the kitchen but through her book, I've really changed my approach and outlook when it comes to cooking and the ingredients I use. Something great to share with fellow epicureans."
