Lemon Drops and Mango Cremes may be dead and gone, but a new Girl Scout Cookie is rising to take their place. Available in select test markets this year, it's got gooey chocolate chips, delectable shortbread, and... absolutely no gluten.
Yes, in an age where everyone thinks they have gluten allergies, so too do we have gluten-free Girl Scout Cookies. The chocolate chip shortbreads will still be made with real butter and chocolate, but don't go looking for any artificial colors, artificial flavors, high-fructose corn syrup, palm oil, hydrogenated oils, or gluten (duh). According to ABC Bakers, the gluten-free shortbreads won't be an official part of the Cookie roster until they crunch the sales numbers, but this is something we have to coexist with for at least 2014.
For those who do have Celiac, this is awesome. For the bajillion others who just think "gluten-free" means "healthy", it's just another treat that will make them fatter without them realizing it. But hey! More Thin Mints for the rest of us!
